May be rest in peace
Sadly fush of that size and numbers are long gone. And partly to blame were anglers of those times and beyond. 100 or so years ago. Education or knowledge of how sustainable those fish stocks were. Probably didnt come into question. Now with industrialised fishing trawlers out at sea. Over delopements of towns on the rivers. Man made dams weirs etc on big rivers. And malpractice of a small minority of so called anglers both from here and abroad. The once great fish of size and abundance in our rivers and lakes are far from its best. But with good management of our waterways. And a properly staffed and active fisheries board with full backing of garda and government. Those days of old could be in our future. Heres to hoping fellow fishermen
No net s now we ve killed our salmon ,farmers and nets men
Did they get 1??
hey can you please tell me the exact location
rip
122 salmon on one rod ! Did they really think or care that this amazing fish could maintain its numbers with such kill rates.
The largest rod caught salmon was by mr moore in 1874 57lbs river suir, any pic of that?
Opw.ifi irish state destroyed our irish rivers look at some of our rives a few have no salmon the mulcair my river they are doing their best to destroy it salmon can be saved fuk green house gas save our irish heritage stop building near rivers prioritise nature put salmon first restore our rivers to their glorious past it can be done if we want too !

Great old photos. Is there a Part 2 to this? The photo with the ruin on the far bank - is that Moreek on the Shannon at Castle Connell?
What is the poem at 2.40? Where can I find the full verse?
Thanks for bringing my attention to this. I hope to revisit with update on Shannon River prior to electrification scheme. Should be able to unearth material on Shannon salmon from the Southern era
Hi, Moycullen man here.. just wondering who wrote/sang the song!? Been wondering for a while now. Thanks
That's a Eurofighter Typhoon Displaying in sathill.
'2.19' Now that is an epic days fishing
Culling of seals, and a better control of farm runoff, also a total ban on fishing ,that includes the landlords that still own the Irish rivers this is what is needed help the Atlantic salmon return to the Irish rivers.
That's the US Thunderbirds only 4 of them fly by.
The fact that there were we live is bad and also the box jelly is comin
The fish @0.45 is not a salmon, its a huge trout, look at the tail. Nice video!
A trout of over 50 pounds with a huge kype? I'm afraid that you are wrong. Its definitely a very mature cock salmon.
I hate that dam
*I wouldn't go that close if I were you*
Lovely video with mesmerising music...made me sad to see these majestic creatures slain but we salmon anglers were mostly all guilty of it in our early trophy fish days, never in our wildest dreams thinking how the halcyon days would come to an end
You are so lucky to be so close to the Cyanea Capillata (Lions Mane Jellyfish)! I also saw the Aurelia Aurita (Moon Jellyfish) in the background. What an experience!
moon jellyfish are very common in ireland
I found some cyanea ferruginea yesterday on the coast of Dumfries!
I held a dead one
Oh Rod. Rod. Wherefore art thou Rod?
Wow I love this country..
The problem is they are just migrating fish. That isn't their home. Without our river habitats where they spawn they would have no salmon to over harvest.
How true but for the fact that the Arctic is also their home, where salmon put on most of their weight in a pristine environment that we have yet to dam, pollute and destroy - indeed a welcome haven for a migratory species.
Thank you for share.
I live beside him
Hon Galway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sounds just like a red fox
Awesome!
Life in Greenland looks very pure and natural. I would love to go there. Not Aruba, but very beautiful. I think those salmon were the best to eat. Long live the good Earth.
Was this in December ?

Salmo - what lough in Ireland was this please? I am doing some research on piking in Ireland, I recall last Feb 1986 on Lough Carra, Mayo - many thanks for your Help, Edward Graham
this is beautiful
these lads looks WAY bigger then U16. They look like minors!!
magnificent fish.....
water was very low them fish must have been red!!
That's not Clew bay at the beginning. The bay is further north.
At first I thought it was a buzzard. Not an eagle for sure. I think Harry is right. A black kite perhaps. Either way, great to see here in Connemara, hope they stick around.
Yes, I see the forked tail now looking closely. But couldn't a Buzzard fan his tail out and move it for lift when taking off quickly in that wind? Not convinced its a Kite.
